Basic S.W.A.T Officer
This course is directed toward Law Enforcement Officers recently assigned to a specialized SWAT or emergency response team. This course will provide the participants with an understanding of contemporary theories and concepts used during Law Enforcement tactical operations. Participants will gain practical experience operating as a member of a team during practical and scenario-based field exercises designed to develop both individual and team tactics. Participants will gain practical experience planning, developing & executing missions. Upon completion of this course participants will possess the fundamental knowledge and skills to function in the various positions required of a SWAT team member.
Class Size: 30 Maximum
Organization: Classroom lecture & demonstrations are followed-up with applied skill practice sessions culminating in three scenarios.
Course Length: 50 Hours, 5 days (0700-1800)
Course Objectives:
1. Students will learn the history and philosophy of SWAT.
2. Students will learn the structure and organization of a SWAT team and the roles and responsibilities of each.
3. Introduction to the specialized equipment and munitions used by SWAT teams.
4. Students will learn the overarching principles associated with LETCSA and how they apply to SWAT operations.

Grading: Students will be required to pass a written examination at the conclusion of this course (80% minimum)

Who can attend our classes?
This course is open to law enforcement officers who have been recently assigned to a specialized SWAT or emergency response team.Required Equipment

7. Eye and hearing protection
8. APR (Gas Mask)

Recommended equipment:
1. Inert firearm (i.e. SIRT)
2. NLTA (SIMS or UTM)
Dress Code
Visitors attending training at the WSCJTC are encouraged to wear their agency logo shirt/uniform or agency ID badge while on campus.
Visitors not wearing agency identification can attend classes in business casual attire. They will need to check in at the front desk and wear a clip-on visitor's identification card.
