Private Security Handgun Instructor (Certification/Recertification)

This course series is designed for Private Security/ Investigator and Bail Bond Firearms Instructors.  Participants will receive Instructor Certification upon successful completion of the course.

The initial certification course is required for all Private Security and Bail Bond employees seeking firearms certification to become instructors.  Afterwards, instructors can maintain their instructor certification by attending the recertification course every three years.

Participants will take a handgun pre-entry qualification test on the first day of class; successful completion is required to attend the course. Participants that do not pass will be removed from the class.  We strongly suggest students practice before attending the course to ensure a passing score.  Review all forms under "Required Forms" for more information on testing requirements.

An optional qualification is offered for the Handgun Instructor classes to allow students the opportunity to pass the entrance qualification at a reduced charge.   Those students that successfully complete the Optional Qualification will be admitted to the specific class they have applied for without having to take the instructor qualification on the morning of the first day. Those students who do not pass the OQ after two attempts will be offered one final attempt the morning of the course. Should they fail to qualify, they will be charged the full tuition.

A separate application is required for the Optional Qualification; please see the “Schedule” section for available courses.

Tuition varies by session and will be invoiced; do not mail payment. Please see the “Schedule” section for more information.
