Child Interview Refresher- Online

This 8 hour training is a refresher class for WA State law enforcement, CPS, prosecutors and child interviewers who have previously attended the 3 - 5 day Child Abuse Interviewing and Assessment course (CJTC course # 5357 or #5358) sponsored by the WA State Criminal Justice Training Commission (CJTC) and the Alliance for Child Welfare Excellence.

This class will run over two afternoons and will be held online.

It will review and reinforce research-based best practices in child forensic interviewing and discuss recent modifications to best practices in child forensic interviewing.

Specific topics will include:

  • Changes in recommendations regarding truth-lie discussions
  • Current best practice re: Interview instructions (or ‘ground rules’)
  • Current best practice re: “Narrative event practice”

Note: This is a follow-up class to CJTC course #5357 and does not fully satisfy the RCW 43.101.234 and RCW 74.14B.010 requirements for specialized child interview training for those who investigate child sexual abuse cases.

To register for the course, contact your Training Manager to assign the training to you via Acadis.

If you have any issues with registration, please reach out to the program staff listed on this page.

Upcoming classes are listed below.  Registration does not guarantee acceptance into the class.

If classes are full, or not available, please complete the Course Interest Survey.  This is not a waiting list, but instead helps us see if there is enough interest to create another class.  If we schedule a session, we will contact everyone who has completed the survey and request that registration be completed.
