Cellular Phones, Technology, Mapping & Analysis

This course is hosted by the Mountlake Terrace Police Department. 

This three day course offers students the opportunity to dive deep into the common data gathered during investigations.  Students will learn how to effectively analyze data contained within phones and how this data can be used to build strong cases.  Students will learn how to understand and analyze Call Detail Records (CDRs) and map cell tower data including specialized location records from the three main cellular service providers (AT&T, Verizon & T-Mobile).  Additionally, students will be taught how to properly use geofence (Google and T-Mobile Timing Advance) warrants in their investigations.  Instruction will be provided on proper report writing and courtroom testimony.  There were will be several practical exercises throughout the course and students will become proficient in the use of the Cellhawk software.
