Advanced Firearms Patrol Carbine Instructor

The 40-hour CJTC Patrol Carbine Instructor Course is designed to teach law enforcement and corrections personnel the skills required to lead safe and effective patrol carbine training at the agency level. Participants should be proficient public speakers with above average marksmanship and weapons manipulation skills. This course is a blend of classroom and range to give the participant information related to the carbine platform and instructing the same, while also giving them practical range time to further develop their skill in operation and teaching the patrol carbine.

A prerequisite to attend the course is successful completion of the CJTC Handgun Instructor course, or comparable Handgun Instructor certifications. Comparable certifications are to be evaluated by the Firearms Program Manager.All students must pass the Patrol Carbine Instructor Entry Test with a score of 90% or better on day one of the course. Failure will result in the student being released from the course.

This course will include the following topics:

  • Troubleshooting carbines
  • The use of optics and how to zero them
  • Principle and context-based drills related to manipulations, marksmanship and combat shooting
  • Coaching techniques to increase officers rifle shooting skills
  • An understanding of external and terminal ballistics and the factors which affect the bullet’s flight, and how to develop a departmental rifle program and qualification course.

Active law enforcement and corrections personnel who meet the prerequisites.
 

Prerequisite

  1. Successful completion of CJTC Handgun Instructor or approved equivalent handgun instructor course.
  2. A passing score of 90% on the entrance qualification is required.
  3. Failure of the entry qualification will result in the student being released from the course. Fees will not be waived.

 

Dress Code 

For security reasons, while on the WSCJTC campus are encouraged to wear their agency logo shirt/uniform and have their agency ID badge visible.
 

Cancelation

Effective immediately:

Registration will be completed 45 days before the course start date. Invoices for the course will be generated and sent to respective agencies on the first day of the course. Payment for the course is expected within 30 days of receiving the invoice. Cancellations of registered attendees must occur before the registration date for the course. The cancellation must be submitted by the agency's training coordinator to the program registrar via email.
  • If cancellation occurs within 45 days of the course start date, the agency will be invoiced for the full tuition cost and are expected to pay the full price of tuition within 30 days of receiving the invoice.
    • The WSCJTC encourages replacing the attendee who had to cancel with another attendee from the same agency. In certain circumstances, a credit can be extended to the agency for another course date.
