This course will give current firearm’s instructors the knowledge and skills of shotgun operation in both Lethal and Less-Lethal applications. This course is not ammunition specific, but rather, familiarizes officers with the variety of lethal ammunition options, less-lethal munitions options, and tactics currently used during LE operations. Applicants who fail the prerequisite entry range skills test will be removed from the class on the morning of the first day and charged the full course tuition fee.
This class is 40 hours in length. Graduates will be able to teach safe-handling, operation, and manipulations of the police shotgun as well as less lethal application of the same platform.

• Loading & unloading
• Less-Lethal options & applications
• Methods of carry
• Immediate action drills
• Select munitions drills
• Weapon modifications and accessories
• Types of munitions
• Sizing the shotgun to the shooter
• Target engagement from 1 to 100 yards
• Introduction to 37mm & 40mm Less-Lethal platform & munitions
Audience: Active law enforcement personnel who meet the prerequisites.
Prerequisite:
1. Successful completion of Handgun Instructor Level 1.
2. A passing score of 90% on the entrance and manipulation skills shooting test is required. Both tests will be conducted on day one of the course. To review the requirements, see required forms below.
3. Failure of the entry qualification, (Less than 90% or 450 out of 500 pts) will result in the student being released from the course. Fees will not be waived.
Dress Code: For security reasons, while on the WSCJTC campus are encouraged to wear their agency logo shirt/uniform and have their agency ID badge visible.
Cancelation Policy:
Effective immediately:
- Registration will be completed 45 days before the course start date.
- Invoices for the course will be generated and sent to respective agencies on the first day of the course. Payment for the course is expected within 30 days of receiving the invoice.
- Cancellations of registered attendees must occur before the registration date for the course. The cancellation must be submitted by the agency's training coordinator to the program registrar via email.
- If cancellation occurs within 45 days of the course start date, the agency will be invoiced for the full tuition cost and are expected to pay the full price of tuition within 30 days of receiving the invoice.
- The WSCJTC encourages replacing the attendee who had to cancel with another attendee from the same agency. In certain circumstances, a credit can be extended to the agency for another course date.
- If cancellation occurs within 45 days of the course start date, the agency will be invoiced for the full tuition cost and are expected to pay the full price of tuition within 30 days of receiving the invoice.
