Core Medicolegal Forensic Investigation Training
The Core Medicolegal Forensic Investigation training course is designed for coroners, medical examiners, and medicolegal investigative personnel and is intended to provide a solid foundation of medicolegal topics. This course will teach and establish standards of practice for personnel in Washington State. During this training, participants will gain an in-depth understanding of topics such as medicolegal death investigation systems, death scene investigation, and identification procedures. Participants in this course will be able to understand how to apply the skills they’ve learned to their day-to-day practice and improve the services they provide to their agencies and counties.
The completion of this 40-hour course will result in certification required per RCW 43.101.480.

Who can attend our classes?
This course is mandated for coroners, medical examiners, and all other medicolegal investigative personnel employed by a county coroner’s or medical examiner’s office.
Non-mandated student: Mandated students will have priority into class. Non-mandated students will be placed on a waitlist. If there is space available after all mandated personnel applications are received, we will accept non-mandated students into the class. Due to this process, non-mandated students may receive short notice of the acceptance.
Lodging, travel, and meals are at the expense of all students.Required Equipment

Visitors attending training at the WSCJTC are encouraged to wear their agency logo shirt/uniform or agency ID badge while on campus.
Visitors not wearing agency identification can attend classes in business casual attire.
