Field Training Officer Academy

This 40 hour course presents the FTO model (sometimes called the San Jose Model program) to field trainers engaged in training those who have recently completed the BLEA, Corrections or Equivalency academies.  Classroom topics will include:

  • The composition and components of the FTO program
  • Adult learning theories, principles and styles
  • Developing and presenting lesson materials
  • The Coach-Pupil Method of instruction
  • Duties and responsibilities of program personnel
  • Use of evaluation tools (DOR, SEG)

Who can attend our classes?

This course is available to those that are actively employed as a Field Training Officer.

Dress Code

Visitors attending training at the WSCJTC are encouraged to wear their agency logo shirt/uniform or agency ID badge while on campus. 

Visitors not wearing agency identification can attend classes in business casual attire.  They will need to check in at the front desk and wear a clip-on visitor's identification card.

Uniforms, agency logo clothing or business casual attire is appropriate for classroom wear.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 0800 – 1700 unless otherwise noted. 

Cancellation

Deadline to cancel is 7 days prior to class.  Send an email to appliedskills@cjtc.wa.gov to cancel your registration. 

$95 no show or late cancellation fee.
