Featuring Washington State Liaison Corina Shipp
At the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission (WSCJTC), we understand that behind every officer is a family stepping into this profession, too. That’s why we’re proud to highlight our partnership with How 2 Love Our Cops, a national nonprofit that equips, encourages, and educates law enforcement families.
Corina Shipp serves as the organization’s Washington State liaison. A former high school teacher and law enforcement spouse of over 20 years, Corina brings deep personal insight and compassion to her role. “I wanted to build community,” she said. “I wanted to thrive in my family—and I wanted other families to thrive, too.”

Corina has represented How 2 Love Our Cops at academy graduations, including at the WSCJTC Southwest Regional Campus in Vancouver, WA. There, she delivers presentations to families whose loved ones are entering the profession. Her message is clear: law enforcement is a shared journey. “It’s not just the officer stepping into this—it’s the whole family,” she said.
Her goal is to ensure families feel celebrated, informed, and prepared. “I want them to walk away encouraged and equipped with tools to help them navigate what’s ahead,” she said. That includes access to a national family peer support line where trained peers offer confidential support during challenging times.
Corina also helps families connect with local resources, build support networks, and understand that they’re not alone. “Younger families often don’t know what to expect,” she explained. “But even retired officers come up to me and say, ‘I’m so glad someone is finally talking about this.’”

The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive—proof that this work matters. “I want the next generation of officers to do better, and I want their families to feel confident and supported,” Corina said. “That’s how we leave this community better than we found it.”
At WSCJTC, we train the guardians of democracy—and we know strong families support strong officers. We're grateful to Corina and How 2 Love Our Cops for being vital to that mission.
