This 16-hour CJTC Handgun Instructor Recertification course should be attended within 5 years of the last certification. This class serves as a recertification for CJTC Handgun Instructors and CJTC Handgun Optics Instructors. This course will provide the current firearms instructor with contemporary techniques and theories as well as a review, along with updates on handgun optics technology and training standards. In addition, this course will provide a review of federal and state laws and contemporary legal standards relating to the use of deadly force.
Advanced Firearms Handgun Instructor Recertification
Course topics are as follows:
- Review of state & federal laws concerning use of deadly force
- Review principles of the Enoka and Heim studies
- Review handgun manipulation Techniques
- Handgun marksmanship qualification
- Current marksmanship and combat shooting techniques
- Aiming principles to include red dot sight discussion and application
Prerequisites:
- Successful completion of Handgun Instructor, course #2037.
- A passing score of 90% on the Exit Qualification. The exit qualification will be conducted at the end of the course. To review the requirements, see our required forms below. Failure of the exit qualification, (Less than 90% or 450 out of 500 pts) will result in the student’s certification being held until completion of the exit qualification within 30 days of end of course. Fees will not be waived.
Audience
Active law enforcement and corrections personnel who meet the prerequisites.
Dress Code
For security reasons, while on the WSCJTC campus are encouraged to wear their agency logo shirt/uniform and have their agency ID badge visible.
Cancellations
Effective immediately:
- Registration will be completed 45 days before the course start date.
- Invoices for the course will be generated and sent to respective agencies on the first day of the course. Payment for the course is expected within 30 days of receiving the invoice.
- Cancellations of registered attendees must occur before the registration date for the course. The cancellation must be submitted by the agency's training coordinator to the program registrar via email.
- If cancellation occurs within 45 days of the course start date, the agency will be invoiced for the full tuition cost and are expected to pay the full price of tuition within 30 days of receiving the invoice.
- The WSCJTC encourages replacing the attendee who had to cancel with another attendee from the same agency. In certain circumstances, a credit can be extended to the agency for another course date.
