Job Summary: The function of the Port Gamble S’Klallam Public Safety Department is comprised of the Police which is focused on the prevention of crime and the protection of the safety and property of the Tribal community and Natural Resources Enforcement (NRE) which is focused on enforcing tribal treaty rights while ensuring tribal membership abides by the law and regulations which help to sustain harvesting opportunities for generations. The Chief of Police is responsible for the planning, direction and administration of the law enforcement function for the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Performs general police duties, processes, and operations for the protection of life and property and enforces federal, state, and local laws, prevents crime, and preserves peace in a railroad surface transportation environment.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING Work throughout Washington State independently with minimal supervision to provide a full range of law enforcement and public safety services to the motoring public and visitors of Washington State. Troopers identify and enforce criminal and traffic law violations and support criminal prosecutions through the use of statutory arrest authority, search, investigation, and court proceedings. Troopers expedite safe traffic flow, assist with collision response and investigations, and aid motorists, crime victims, the public, and governmental bodies.
