BLEA Class 931 Graduates 30 New Officers Ready to Serve Washington Communities

The Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission (WSCJTC) graduated 30 recruits from Basic Law Enforcement Academy (BLEA) Class 931 today at its headquarters in Burien, marking an important milestone for the newest peace officers entering service across Washington state.

BLEA Class 931

BLEA prepares recruits with the knowledge and skills needed to serve their communities with integrity, accountability, and sound judgment. Through a combination of classroom instruction, scenario-based training and practical skills development, recruits learn critical areas such as patrol procedures, communication, and decision-making under pressure. The training reflects WSCJTC’s commitment to developing professionals who are ready to meet the evolving needs of the communities they serve.

Class 931 also demonstrated the strong sense of service and connection that defines the academy experience. During the graduation, recruits presented their TAC Officer, Brit Kelly, with a meaningful class gift: a memorial honoring fallen Seattle Police Department Officer Timothy Brenton. The tribute reflects the class’s respect for those who have served before them and the responsibility they now carry as they begin their careers. Watch the video here.

As they leave the academy, these 30 graduates join agencies across the state, prepared to protect their communities and build public trust through professional, community-centered policing.
